How it works

Three things your county doesn't tell you

  1. What every charge is

Each line explained in plain English: who charges it, what kind of tax it is, and the number to call about it.

    Free
  2. What can and can't come off

Every line tagged: can't be removed, may come off, or ask the agency. Charges that look like a mistake for your home, like a vacancy tax on a home you live in, are flagged.

    Free
  3. What may come off for you

Exemptions and credits you may be missing, local charges with a senior or low-income exemption, and about how much each saves.

Upload your property tax bill as a PDF, or take a photo of each page. We read every line in about a minute.

About you Optional. Checks more exemptions.
    How is this home used?
    When did you buy it?
    Do you have a disability?
    Are you a veteran?
Are you the surviving spouse of a veteran, service member or first responder?

Exemptions depend on age, disability and income, and some charges (like vacancy taxes) only apply to empty homes. You can change these later on your results page.

    Questions

    Good to know

    Is Taxlines a government agency?

No. Taxlines is not a government agency, a law firm or a tax adviser, and isn't connected to any county. County forms and reviews are free, and you can always file them yourself.

    Which bills work?

Property tax bills for homes in any US state, as a PDF or clear photos. We've checked the homeowner rules for all 50 states and Washington, DC, from official sources, and we check local charges county by county. Where we haven't checked a local charge yet, we say so and give you the number printed next to it.

    Will this lower my taxes?

We can't promise that. We show which exemptions and credits may fit you and aren't on your bill yet, which local charges may have an exemption, and about how much each could save. The assessor or agency decides.

What if nothing can come off?

Then we tell you so, and there's nothing to buy. You still get the explanation of every line, free.

I just bought my home. Why did I get another bill?

In many states a purchase or new construction triggers a supplemental or corrected bill for the rest of the tax year. It often arrives months after closing and is often not paid by escrow. Upload it and we'll explain it.

    Who can see my bill?

Only someone with your private link, which we email to you. Anthropic's Claude reads your bill to explain it and doesn't train on it. Everything is deleted after 30 days, or right away when you press Delete everything now.
